Summary:
Surf Sound offers privacy, panoramic ocean views, and constant sea breezes. Overlooking John's Folly bay in the peaceful Coral Bay Quarter. We are conveniently located near fantastic beaches, great dining & entertainment. Property sleeps 2 guests on the top floor & 2 in the bottom floor. Each floor is its own space with bed, bath & kitchen. For parties more than 2 we offer the bottom floor as an option to rent. The owner may occupy the downstairs when needed. Please inquire for details.
The Space:
NOTE: The owner reserves the right to occupy the bottom floor when needed. Please send inquiry if there are questions regarding this for your stay.
The rate advertised is for the top floor only. We offer the the option of renting both floors for an extra $100/night.
Most renters (2 people) only need the top floor so this flexible offering saves money if you don't need both floors.
Surf Sound Cottage has one king bedroom and bathroom on the top floor, fully stocked kitchen, living room, dining area, and covered patio for a couple or party of 2.
The bottom floor is a separate studio with queen bed, full bathroom, kitchenette and seating area that can be rented optionally for groups over 2. The property will host a maximum of 4 people and will only be rented to a single group at a time.
Both units have air conditioning. The top floor master bedroom is air conditioned for your sleeping comfort but may never be needed with the constant sea breezes when windows are opened. The entire bottom studio is air conditioned. If you do run the AC you must keep the bedroom door closed.
The stairway between units is outside, probably not the best space for small children. It is a perfect setup for two couples, friends, or families with older children.
We provide everything you'll need for that perfect, stress-free get-away: all linens, appliances and house wares, and complete beach gear. Two inflatable SUP's are available for use. Whether you prefer an active vacation of sailing, diving and hiking, or a more relaxing stay of getting an 'all-over tan' and enjoying cool drinks on the covered porch, Surf Sound Cottage has the perfect location and just the right amenities! Our cottage is relaxed, fun, and inviting. If you are lucky enough to be here while fruits are in season, help yourself to the papayas, pomegranates, limes, sorrel and peppers we grow.
Guest Access:
There is private parking for one vehicle, the driveway is steep and a 4WD vehicle is necessary.
The Neighborhood:
For years, we rented various homes all over St John in order to narrow down which area we liked best, in which to purchase our own home. We ruled out homes with neighbors too close; we treasure complete privacy. Ruled out those areas noisy with road traffic or late night bars; we value peace and quiet. We ruled out properties too far removed from beaches, dining and shopping; we appreciate convenience.
And then we found Surf Sound Cottage.... beautiful views, cooling breezes, no neighbors, quiet location just minutes away from anything we need......perfect!
Getting Around:
Surf Sound Cottage is on the quiet side of the island, it is a beautiful drive to get here and while tackling the driveway the very first time can be intimidating, the reward is complete peace and privacy.

Summary: Cottage was awesome! Ocean breeze to die for, secluded and quiet enough but still easy to get wherever you wanted to go. Tara and Aaron were very helpful and easy to communicate with.
