Travel Purpose: leisure
Positive: It is attached to a pub with fantastic evening food. Home cooked meals, big portions. Bathroom was clean. Good shower, loo and sink were clean and a heated towel rail with clean soft towels. Bed was very comfortable. Plenty of drawer storage. Full sized Kettle and plenty of tea, coffee, uht milk.
Negative: The rooms are in a courtyard and were probably old outbuildings or stables. There are pub tables outside these rooms so any noise transfers directly into the rooms. It’s on a busy road right next to the railway station and crossing. The heater is part of the air con unit so if you need to warm up the room it’s noisy and the floor creaks with every step (wooden underneath) and the door to the room didn’t shut flush so wasn’t sealed to keep out the cold air. Breakfast was disappointing. I expected continental but it was poor quality and not very appealing. I left to get food elsewhere. White sliced bread, croissants etc. There was the option of a slice of cheese or ham, a cereal box and a pot of vanilla yoghurt. There was apple and orange juice, filter coffee and tea. So good enough selection but not the quality I would have expected.
Summary: An ok last minute booking, but I wouldn’t return.
